The Bible says David has a handful of stones but it says (“the stone hit him in the temple”)
Dear Alex,
That is correct. David had a handful of stones but only used one to defeat Goliath. Goliath was ‘defying Israel and God each day’ (Samuel 17:25)
Goliath was about 9 feet tall… that's like as tall as a large grizzly bear standing on its hind legs. (Pretty scary if you ask me)
David was just a shepherd boy. Yet, God used David to display the Lord's power and victory. God could have helped David win with a sword or a huge army but we see him use one stone and a sling. This shows that God was the one that provided victory.
Even the little detail of one stone rather than many to defeat Goliath shows the God we serve. God doesn’t need to prove his power but He uses us in all things Big or small to claim victory!
Next time you are facing a problem that feels Big (hopefully not a bear) remember that God will give you victory.
Application: Find a small smooth pebble to hold in your pocket as a reminder that God is victorious!
